Thala Grey

Thala Gray or Thala Gris is a famous North African stone from Tunisia. It is also known as Smoke or Gray Fumè. Thala Gray is a particular selection of Thala, which includes slabs with a uniform gray background color, often crossed by some dark veins and lighter shades. Quarries have a very limited production of blocks from this selection. The sawing is almost exclusively along the vein (cross-cut) and for this reason the slabs of Thala Gray have some variation in their color and need to be selected to achieve color consistency within a project. The slabs of Thala Gris are polishable but the polish soon wears off, for this reason this material is considered by many to be a limestone and not a marble. Thala Grey slabs are not resinated but only honed or brushed. Thala Gray is a resistant material, particularly suitable for outdoor environments in hot climates, even for applications in particularly sunny areas.
