Silver Onyx

Onyx Silver, also known as Onyx Gray, is one of the most fascinating Onyxes in production and is also one of the most requested by designers and architects from all over the world. The slabs are obtained by sawing blocks perpendicularly to the direction of the vein. Therefore the slabs show fairly uniform horizontal veins and are relatively uniform when coming from the same block. The color tones of Silver Onyx vary from gray to cream, even to white and brown. All these colors alternate in delicate and suggestive veins creating surprising natural geometric patterns. The blocks of Grey Onyx are very fragile and are usually subjected to special reinforcement procedures with resins even before they are cut. Even the Onyx Gray slabs have a very crystalline and therefore fragile structure. They are then subjected to resin treatment, to eliminate the micro-fractures present and increase their resistance. Silver Onyx is used for fine finishes, often exploiting its transparency in uses with artificial lighting coming from the back of the slab.
