Giallo Istria
Europe
saw cut, polished, honed, brushed, sandblasted, bushammered

Giallo Istria, also known as Yellow Istria, is a marble characterized by a yellow background on which numerous darker spots are distributed. The blocks of this marble are extracted from quarries on the Istrian peninsula in Croatia. Giallo Istria marble has low porosity and is therefore suitable for outdoor use where it is particularly resistant to low temperatures. Depending on the quarry-layer of extraction and their chromatic qualities, the blocks are divided into “courses” (corsi). Giallo Istria is a stone usually cut in the direction of the vein (cross-cut), so that the slabs take on a very uniform color. The fourth course is distinguished by the scarcity of the background spots, which are much more numerous in the second. This marble is commonly used both polished for interior floors, stairs, walls, thresholds, both polished or brushed.
